REPUBLICAN PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION, MINNEAPOLIS - ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA
SEPTEMBER 1-4, 2008

Maryland sent 37 delegates to the 2008 Republican Party National Convention. Of these, 24 delegates and 24 alternates (3 from each congressional district) were chosen by Republican voters in Maryland's primary election on February 12, 2008. In addition to the State Chair and the two National Committee members, 10 at-large delegates and 10 alternates were chosen by the Republican State Central Committee at its State Convention, May 10, 2008, in Annapolis.


REPUBLICAN PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION, NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK,
AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 3, 2004

Maryland sent 39 delegates to the 2004 Republican Party National Convention. Of these, 24 delegates and 24 alternates (3 from each congressional district) were chosen by Republican voters in Maryland's primary election on March 2, 2004. The remaining fifteen included the State Chair, the two National Committee members, and 12 at-large delegates chosen by the Republican State Central Committee at its State convention, April 30 - May 5, 2004.


REPUBLICAN PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA,
JULY 31 - AUGUST 3, 2000

In 2000, Maryland was allotted 31 delegates for the Republican Party National Convention. Of these, Republican voters elected 24 delegates (3 in each Congressional District) and the Republican State Central Committee chose 7 delegates.

At the National Convention, elected delegates must vote for the Presidential candidate who wins in their Congressional district. At-Large delegates must vote for the candidate who carries the State. Delegates are released from this commitment after the second ballot unless their candidate withdraws or receives less than 35 percent of the vote at the Convention.


REPUBLICAN PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA,
AUGUST 12-15, 1996

In 1996, Maryland was allotted 32 delegates for the Republican Party National Convention. Of these, Republican voters elected 24 delegates (3 in each Congressional District) and the Republican State Central Committee chose 8 delegates.

At the National Convention, elected delegates must vote for the Presidential candidate who wins in their Congressional district. At-Large delegates must vote for the candidate who carries the State. Delegates are released from this commitment after the second ballot unless their candidate withdraws or receives less than 35 percent of the vote at the Convention.
