The Governor authorized the Governor's Redistricting Advisory Committee in July 2011. The Committee is to draft redistricting plans for the State's forty-seven legislative election districts, and eight congressional election districts. To do so, it will draw on information and analysis offered at public hearings, from public comment, and following review of the federal census returns.

The Committee is to submit its recommendations to the Governor in 2011.

Using the Committee's recommendations, the Governor will prepare the legislative redistricting plan required to be introduced the first day of the 2012 legislative session. A congressional redistricting plan also will be prepared and submitted to the General Assembly by the Governor during a special legislative session in October 2011.
